High-Resolution Transducers up to 1,000 MHz

With a frequency of 1,000 MHz, our transducers offer the world’s highest applied frequency for acoustic mapping and analysis. This means that resolutions down to 0,8 µm  µm can be achieved on suitable samples. PVA TePla manufactures transducers of 100–1,000 MHz for the most diverse high-resolution applications, based on sapphire lens technology and ZnO piezo materials of the active element.

These special lenses were developed in particular for the analysis of thin layers, but also for quantitative acoustic microscopy. In this case, Rayleigh waves are induced just below the surface of the material and analyzed using v(z) and f(v) curves. By means of suitable Fourier analysis, surface wave velocities (Rayleigh waves) can be measured with an accuracy exceeding 0.1%, which enables local determination of the modulus of elasticity or shear modulus.
